Perhaps one of the most asked questions about this post-apocalyptic world concerns the origins of the creatures. Viewers know that they are blind, have sensitive and enhanced hearing, and have a few weaknesses like high-frequency sound waves. However, before the sequel's release, John Krasinski shared that these creatures were extraterrestrial beings whose home planet was destroyed.

The sequel provided more insight into the creatures. The opening sequence began with the creatures' invasion. They are aliens traveling on a meteor that broke into pieces and scattered throughout Earth. Furthermore, another weakness was that the creatures do not know how to swim. Unfortunately, the creatures' origins remain a mystery beyond that.

When Emmett and Regan arrived at a dock, they came across a feral group, and one managed to trick and imprison Emmett. While Emmett and Regan eventually survived and escaped, most of the members of the feral group were killed by the creature, thanks to Emmett's plan.

However, it leaves some curiosity about who are these feral people. Are they cannibals? Are they a cult group? Are there more of them out there? Also, why did they not attempt to travel to the island? There was no indication of who the group was and what they were doing at the dock. While some viewers can speculate based on their scratched skins, it seems unlikely that anyone will ever know since most of them are dead.

6 Will Regan Reunite With Her Family Soon?

Regan deciphered the message behind Bobby Darin's "Beyond the Sea," and with Emmett's help, she embarked on a journey to find this inhabited island. However, Marcus and Evelyn did not travel with Regan, and the Abbott family were separated throughout the second half of the film.

Now that Regan has proved that the island does exist with a flourished community, it leaves the anticipation of whether the Abbott family will reunite soon. Will Regan or Emmett come back and find them in the future sequel?

5 How Will The Community Living On The Island Recover From The Creature Attack?

Regan and Emmett succeeded in arriving at the island and found a community that can make noise freely. However, a creature was onboard one of the boats at the dock, and the tides pushed it in the direction of the inhabited island, leading to a massive creature attack.

While Regan killed the lone creature, the creature left a lasting and disastrous impact on the community by killing several members, including the community's leaders. It leaves the question of whether the community can recover from the creature attack or if there will be thoughts of abandoning the island. If they remain on the island, will they enhance more security protocols to avoid another attack? Furthermore, who will become the new leader of the group?

4 Has Any Other Country Managed To Stop The Creatures & Recovered?

In the first film, Lee Abbott kept newspapers that showed the global impact of the alien invasion. Furthermore, the sequel showed news coverage of the first deadly attacks that occurred in Shanghai. However, since the story takes place almost a year and a half since the invasion started, it seems that there has been no updated news of what is happening in other countries since news coverage now ceases to exist.

The Abbott family and many other survivors now know that the two biggest weakness for these creatures are that they cannot swim and high-frequency sound wave causes them pain. However, it leaves some questions on a global scale. Did any other countries already figure this out? Have they already exterminated some of these creatures and since recovered? If islands are the safest places, what does this mean for island countries like Japan and Australia?

3 Why Was Emmett Drawing So Many Pictures Of His Son & Why Did He Keep His Wife's Deceased Body?

Emmett, portrayed by Cillian Murphy, was one of the new characters in the sequel and knew the Abbott family before the alien invasion. Sadly, Emmett lost his whole family because the creature killed his son, and his wife died from an illness. Therefore, Emmett is the lone survivor of his family.

Emmett kept several drawings of his son to preserve the memory of him. However, why is he drawing this many face sketches of him? Also, it seems odd that he kept his wife's deceased body when Marcus encountered it. Why is his wife's decomposing body still at the warehouse?

2 Does The Military Still Exist?

The sequel revealed events happening to the world outside the perspective of the Abbott family. When Emmett talks to the leader on the island, viewers learn that the government discovered the creatures' inability to swim, and the National Guard tried to transport as many people as possible to an island for safety.

However, the first film showed a newspaper headline, "U.S. Military Defeated." Also, the military was no longer helping people during this period. However, given recent events, it leaves some questions on whether the military still exists. Considering that Regan's cochlear implant can produce high-frequency sound waves that initiate pain for creatures and uncover their armor, the best people to take them out with enough force could be the military.

1 What Does The Ending Imply About The Future?

The sequel abruptly ends with Regan and Marcus Abbott, portrayed by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, killing a creature. Despite its ending, it also concludes the film on a hopeful note and hints that a third film is on the way with many potential plot points. Furthermore, Emily Blunt confirmed that her husband is already working onPart 3, which would turn the series into a trilogy.

The sequel ends with a lot of open doors on whatPart 3 may uncover. Since Regan left her implant on the radio station's speakers, it could finally be the beginning of the end of the creatures' invasion on Earth, and the humans could take back their planet.Part 3 could also go in the direction of the Abbott family's reunion, the community rebuilding on the island, or encounters with more feral people. Either way, there is a lot of promise for what could happen, and moviegoers cannot wait to see what happens next.
